Figma

Figma, Inc. is a San Francisco company that makes browser-based design and collaboration software. Dylan Field and Evan Wallace founded it in 2012, and Field has been CEO since then. Figma made collaborative, cloud-based interface design mainstream, and product, design and engineering teams now use it widely.

Its product line includes Figma Design (interface and product design), FigJam (online whiteboarding), Dev Mode (design handoff for developers), Figma Slides, Figma Make (AI prompt-to-app prototyping), Figma Sites and Figma Buzz for marketing assets. A large plugin and community file ecosystem extends the core tools, and design systems can be shared across teams through libraries.

Figma sells online on a self-serve basis. It has a free Starter plan and paid Professional, Organization and Enterprise plans, priced per seat per month in US dollars, with separate seat types for full editors, developers and collaborators. Indian startups, agencies and IT services companies are major users, and they usually buy directly online. Enterprise agreements are negotiated with Figma's sales team, and education plans are free for eligible students and teachers.

Figma listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker FIG on 31 July 2025. Its IPO priced at US$33 per share and raised about US$1.2 billion, most of it going to existing shareholders. Before that, Adobe's planned US$20 billion acquisition of Figma, announced in 2022, was abandoned in December 2023 after regulators in the UK and EU raised concerns, and Adobe paid Figma a termination fee. As a listed company, Figma now publishes quarterly results and annual reports through its investor relations site, including disclosures on AI-related risks.
