Atlassian makes team collaboration and software development tools. Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, who met as scholarship students at the University of New South Wales, founded it in Sydney. Atlassian dates its start to the launch of Jira 1.0 in 2002. The listed company, Atlassian Corporation, gives its principal executive office in SEC filings as 1098 Harrison Street, San Francisco; it also keeps its original base in Sydney. Mike Cannon-Brookes has been sole CEO since Scott Farquhar stepped down as co-CEO on 31 August 2024.

Its main products are Jira for project and issue tracking, Jira Service Management for IT service management, Confluence for wikis and documentation, Trello for kanban boards, Bitbucket for code hosting, Loom for video messaging, and Opsgenie for incident alerting. In India these tools are used mainly by software companies, IT services firms and in-house technology teams.

Atlassian is known for selling with little direct sales effort. Customers sign up online, and most products have free tiers for small teams and per-user monthly or annual cloud pricing. Solution Partners help larger enterprises. Atlassian opened an office in Bengaluru in 2018. Atlassian's company page says the two founders met as 18-year-old scholarship students in 1998.

Atlassian listed on Nasdaq in 2015 under the symbol TEAM. It says it has more than 300,000 customers and more than 12,000 employees. Its acquisitions include Trello (2017), Opsgenie (2018) and Loom (2023). The company said Farquhar would stay on its board after stepping down as co-CEO. According to an SEC filing, James Chuong became Chief Financial Officer on 30 March 2026.
