About Government of India

The apps and portals listed here under the Government of India are public digital services run by central ministries, departments and government-owned bodies, not by a single software company. They cover government documents and services (DigiLocker, UMANG, MyGov), language technology (Bhashini), education (DIKSHA, SWAYAM), health (Aarogya Setu, CoWIN), logistics data (ULIP) and agriculture (eNAM, Agmarknet, Kisan Suvidha, PM-KISAN).

Each service has its own operator. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) runs several of them. The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) built and manages DigiLocker and UMANG, which also carries EPFO services. The Digital India BHASHINI Division of Digital India Corporation runs Bhashini, and Digital India Corporation also runs MyGov. On education, NCERT runs DIKSHA and the Ministry of Education runs SWAYAM. Aarogya Setu was built by MeitY during COVID-19 and later handed to the National Health Authority, which relaunched it as Aarogya Setu 2.0. CoWIN is the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's vaccination platform. ULIP was designed by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation and is run by NICDC Logistics Data Services, with DPIIT overseeing the National Logistics Policy it belongs to. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare runs eNAM, PM-KISAN and Kisan Suvidha, and the Directorate of Marketing & Inspection runs Agmarknet.

Businesses use these services in practical ways. Employers and verifiers can pull issued documents from DigiLocker, and those issued documents are legally treated the same as the paper originals. Logistics companies connect to ULIP's APIs for shipment and transport data. Product teams can add Indian-language speech and translation through Bhashini. Agribusinesses and traders use eNAM to trade online and Agmarknet to check mandi prices.

All of these services are run by the government for public use. UMANG says it is free to download with no subscription fee, SWAYAM courses are free (only proctored certificate exams charge a fee), and Kisan Suvidha information is free of cost. PM-KISAN is not a software tool. It is an income-support scheme, and its portal is where farmers register and check their benefit.
