Keka Technologies

Keka is a Hyderabad-based HR and payroll software company. Vijay Yalamanchili founded it; he has said he started building Keka after failing to find usable HR software for his own services business around 2015. The company says Keka launched in 2016. Yalamanchili is Founder and CEO. The company's legal name, as shown in its website footer, is Keka Technologies. It has local websites for the United States, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.

Keka's platform covers core HR, leave and attendance, payroll with Indian statutory compliance (PF, ESI, PT, TDS), expense management, performance management, and recruitment through Keka Hire. Products listed on this site include Keka HR, Keka Payroll, Keka Expense and Kekaflex, its flexible benefits product. The software is sold as a cloud subscription priced per employee per month, mostly to small and mid-sized Indian companies, with plans that add modules as they go up.

Keka sells through inbound marketing, free trials and demos run by its own sales team. Its main market is India, and it also sells to companies in other countries.

Keka was bootstrapped for about six years. In November 2022 it raised US$57 million in a Series A led by WestBridge Capital, which Keka described as India's largest Series A round for a SaaS company. Keka said it reached 100 customers in 2017 and had more than 5,500 customer companies by the end of 2021. Keka's own announcement also reports that it crossed US$750,000 in ARR in 2017 and achieved 7x sales growth in 2020, all before raising outside capital. Keka says it now processes payroll for more than 1.5 million employees every month.
